Navigation Courses in Edinburgh

We operate on a low ratio of 1 instructor to every 4 clients on all of our navigation courses, which allows us to maintain a very personal approach and everyone has plenty of tuition to ensure they have really understood. Navigation is often thought of as a ‘dark art’, but actually if taught correctly it becomes very simple. We back up everything we teach with relevant games and activities as well as with lots of practical experience out in the hills.

Level One: ‘Novice Navigation’

An introduction to the world of map reading, predominately aimed at aspiring hill walkers with no prior navigational experience. We start off easy and keep it simple throughout the day, using lots of fun activities to check your understanding. You will leave us with the ability to confidently find your way on simple walks around the countryside.

The first half of your day will be based in and around Bonaly Outdoor Centre, Edinburgh, followed by the afternoon out on the hills putting everything we have learnt into practice.
