For Hogmanay, we headed up Allemuir in the Pentland Hills, Edinburgh. We had a brilliant view of the fireworks across the city and could even see out to North Berwick and Stirling/Grangemouth!
It’s Keith’s birthday on New Years day itself, and he wanted to go skiing, so that’s what we did
Weather didn’t look that great but we headed up to Drumochter anyway. We initially planned a loop taking in a few munros and finishing by descending the Boar of Badnoch, but it looked rather bare. We ended up opting for a shorter day up Meallan Buidhe, giving us plenty of time to get back to Edinburgh for Keith’s birthday dinner.
Snow cover was generally pretty good, we only had to walk for 15minutes before we were able to pick a line of snow through the heather. It was slush puppy like, however, progress would have been very slow on foot.
